What’s happening at Woodward Chrisp
We’re proud to share an exciting milestone for one of our newer solicitors, Roger Stoves, whose article has just been published in the prestigious New Zealand Family Law Journal (NZFLJ).
You can now read it here in full!
Roger’s article explores a groundbreaking area of legal commentary in New Zealand, examining how the Immigration Protection Tribunal approaches decisions involving children. His work highlights significant gaps in the Tribunal’s consideration of international conventions, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which should guide these decisions but are often overshadowed by the outdated framework of the Refugee Convention 1951 and the Immigration Act 2009.
This thought-provoking piece combines Roger’s expertise in family law and immigration & refugee law, bringing fresh insight into a complex legal intersection. Originally written as a research paper during his final semester of study, Roger’s work has now made him a leading commentator in this emerging field.
Congratulations, Roger, on this incredible achievement and your contribution to shaping the conversation in this critical area of law!
