Background

Alison joined Woodward Chrisp as a Director on 28 January 2025, bringing over 26 years of litigation experience to the company. Alison is an employment specialist, with over 20 year experience in employment law, including litigation, negotiation,  mediation and investigations. Alison has represented clients at the Employment Relations Authority,  District Court and High Court, offering practical, solutions-focused advice alongside strong advocacy.

Prior to establishing her own practice in 2018, Alison was a Partner at Burnard Bull & Co and worked as a senior legal consultant and human resources advisor, supporting businesses across Gisborne and the East Coast.

She also advises and represents clients in civil disputes, civil litigation, and is a lead provider for civil legal aid matters. Alison advises clients on general family property matters including enduring powers of attorney, and applications to the Family Court for appointments as Welfare Guardian and Property Manager.

Her approach is client-centred, ensuring clear communication and tailored solutions to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Interests

Outside of work, Alison actively contributes in the Gisborne community, is a Trustee of Tauawhi  Trust, and previously served as President of the Gisborne Branch of the New Zealand Law Society.
